Elk River Motor
« on: November 01, 2007, 10:02:21 AM »
I've rode in a 25/20 Mer Jet, my very humble opinion, the Elk is not a jet river.

The game warden has a 30 Yammer on a Grizzly 16 x 54 and it's sitting  in his yard full of "stuff".  Haven't heard or seen him on the water since late spring (before the growing season)

Anyone want to look at my photos from yesterday and bring one down, I'd love to ride and let you change my mind.

As of today I think this is the motor for the Elk.

I could just sell and move to the Caney or maybe the White, wonder if Nissan would consider relocating it's motor plant to Arkansas for me?

These short tail Hyper drives run with the prop half way in the water.

Interesting motor. Looks like it may be the way to go down there.

Unsure about a jet on the Elk, some of the water I have fished down there is super skinny and maybe too skinny for a jet.

If three is 3" between the weeds and the surface a jet will work. If not, forget it.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

these weeds in the second photo are something like 8 feet long, grow up and then keep growing with the current, like a mat of carpet. Lots of places they will stop a canoe. Been there and got a real big tee shirt ;D

You talk about  noisy, hope it comes with some good ear muffs. Thumper said the Elk was tough on the jet that day ya'll went out :-\
If i couldn't do a jet, i'd have to look at a 15 HP Honda, that low water pickup feature is pretty sweet & it's as quiet as a mouse.
My .02 cents,
