Midnight Double!
« on: November 04, 2007, 06:29:13 PM »
Here's the scenario:
A dark and chilly November night with no moon, an eery hike through the timber, and thrills on the water.  My brother Jay, fishing buddy John, and myself ventured out into the wilderness only to discover we weren't the only ones prowling the river that night.  Jay and John wound up cornering a huge black bear against the bank, and we had to hurry our tails out of there!... An unforgettable night.

I knew my new oversized Brodin net would come in handy.

Damn man, you walked up on a Black bear AT NIGHT!! Did the Bear run off? You guys were sitting ducks in wading boots and waders.

Sweet fish and at night on top :o. How'd you like night fishing?

Those are some awesome fish  ;D

Don't know about going head to head with a bear at night, but I have got to try the mouse!

Dayuum! Black bears and big fish. Hope your waders weren't lumpy!  :o

Would love to hear some more about your bear encounter.

Jay and John stayed upstream, and I waded about a quarter mile downstream from them...all the while, feeling like something was lurking about.  It really gave me the willies, but a few aggressive strikes took all my fear away.  After an hour, I hiked back upstream to find them, and all I could see was both their headlamps bobbing as they ran towards me.

Evidently John got his mouse hung in a bankside tree using 2X.  As he neared the bank, they spooked the bear against a steep bluff; and it began crashing through the trees.  After they spotlighted it and saw it's VERY WIDE eye span, the big guy splashed into the water in a mock charge.
Then it was time to haul ass out of there! :o

The double came from our next stretch of water.  We left early because Jay was cold and John was frozen from slipping into the frigid water TWICE!  ;D
It was a great night!

Jeez. Sounds like an interesting night. Thank goodness we don't live in grizzly country or you guys would have been a meal!

Hmmm did Jay and John have a funny smell on the way home? Maybe they didn't slip in the water but maybe they were trying to remove some solids from their waders. I woulda had to.
