Nocturnal Carnivore
« on: November 19, 2007, 01:56:12 PM »
I finally landed my first brown on a Mouse Pattern at night---after dozens of "almosts" from other fish on past trips.  This big guy attacked the fly with a large GULP, and after missing it twice, he devoured it on his third attack.  He was lying in a slow back eddy of the river, under a large Sycamore tree....just where you'd imagine a predator would live.

Holy smokes! That is a nice fish and looks like he hammered that fly. Thanks for sharing that one with us.

Sometimes you eat the Bear. Lets hope it stays that way.

Nice fish BTW. I'm feeling a pull from the east for some reason Travis. Might be calling ya here soon..

Mike,
We returned to the Bear Den Hole, and spotlighted everywhere, with no sign of life, so we fished nervously.  As my brother and I eased upstream, my brother spotlighted two large eyes in the dense, tall grass behind us....then it was time to go.  It was probably just a racoon, but it still scared the fire out of me :o

Watauga is just starting to push fish to the shallows---I'm still learning that river.  Bows are moving in thick on Ft Henry, and SoHo is a few weeks away from turning on (but the waters so darn low :(),  mountain streams are past their peak but still potential for fun.
Mike, you're welcome to come and fish any time.  Just write me an email (my cell has changed)...We'll be fishing hard over Thanksgiving, and I'll keep you posted on what we find.
