Still waiting on my Helios, after throwing the 6 wt which is the sweetest rod I have even thrown, I decided to back down to a 5wt.....

That's a sweet rod, Leo orderd both of us a 5 weight Helios, took 6 days to get them, got the new LA reels & lines in 4 days :o, no good w/o a rod.
Hopefully Leo can geet permission from his BOSS  & go fish the rod today & give us a report, guess i'll have to wait til the weekend :-\

holler at us if we can help in the future, meanwhile, fish the fire out of that 6 weight & tell us how it feels.

when we got that 5 wt. in and Grumpy and I went out to cast it, my comment was "i have to have one of these". I am sure glad we got them too. the Helios is the epitome of a casting machine.  It's light, and has the backbone of a much heavier rod.  Didn't get to fish the Caney because of time, but did get out and visit the Stones and while there were no big trout, a couple of smaller bows, and a few stripe gave it a good christening.   The line I put on it was an Orvis Silver Label, WF5F in the buckskin color, and while it is a much cheaper line, I have to say it is one fine line.  As cold as it was, this stuff layed out nice and flat and had no memory at all.  As far as the Helios goes, Orvis has put together a rod that meets and exceeds expectations by a lot.  This 5 wt tip flex will handle anything you want to tie on your tippet from midges up to pretty healthy wooly buggers.   And besides, the tube is gorgeous!!!! ;D ;D ;D
