Cold as balls with the wind white capping the water. Caught an 11 incher on the Helios.

Met a guy in the parking lot that gave me a midge he fishes with, he also gave one to my buddy. He fished his, I kept mine for sake of reproduction. He (and the guy that gave them to us) out fished everyone by 4 or 5 to one...

Came off the water after a couple hours, legs were getting cold and the wind was ridiculous...

Gotta figure out the material on that midge...

Wouldn't they??   I left the camera on the back of the couch on my way out. Which was better than I can say for my fishing buddy.

He was going out to his car to get his golf clubs out and his neighbor stopped him. After a long conversation, he got in the car and headed for the Clinch.

Shortly he arrived with waders, a net, and a smile.....

Luckily I had my March Brown travel rod under the seat and he used it and my flies, and beat me....

Can you give details about the midge that was given to you?
Fish on!

The devil in me said not to post this but then I thought of how cool the guy was in giving me one.

Hopefully somebody can come back and tell me how to make it.

I put it on a dime to give you guys an idea of the size, anybody know what the red body is made from? It is translucent.

My dad use to fish the Clinch a lot in winter, and one of his favorite flies was a small red chrionimid (name/spelling??).  Little to no weight and a very small indicator (maybe 2 small pieces of treated yarn) and look for the slightest twitch or turn of the yarn.  He caught some nice fish between the weir and Millers.

Body is either red stretch tubbing or a light amber with reddish thread underneath.   Wapsi makes the tubing, or Stalcup if you can find it.   A very good pattern.  ;D
