Canoe anchors

I was in Huntsville this morning, dropped by Gander Mnt. to visit my oldest son, also looked to see what they had in the way of canoe seats. I want a seat so I can turn my Champlain around and paddle it from the front. Only problem with it is there is a wooden thwart just behind the front seat, making the front seat unusable.

Anyway, they had one of those anchor in a bag setups, I think the anchor was 3 lbs with rope, clip. I've always used a 10 lb which might been over kill. Does anyone use this setup ?

They have a Cabelas? Dangit, I want a Cabelas!!

I repaired that post, I always say Cabelas when I mean Gander Mnt. my son calls it China Mnt bosses got onto him and he said just look at where everthing is made. They didn't press it any farther.

I will drive by 5 BassPro stores to visit Cabelas's.

I've only used a 10lb mushroom and it does the job. On the Caney with 1 gen running the rope needs to be plenty long enough. With 2 on, I will not drop an anchor within the first mile below the dam in a canoe.

If I'm in a canoe and generating, will be no fishing going on, I'm thinking for stopping and not having to beach the boat ever time I want to fish a run.
