Got to the river around 11:30. The weather was wonderful but the rain had the river a little muddy. I didn't bother going below the dam -- it was pretty crowded. I made it a few miles downstream. Had two on, but I was using barbless hooks and couldn't land them. I had to use something that was highly visible, due to the cloudy water. Size 20 Y2K bug seemed to be the ticket, but the fish just couldn't seem to see the fly.
I got to use my new 3 wt. for the first time (Cortland CL rod and Orvis Battenkill reel) The two that were on felt huge! I can't wait till next weekend when I head to GSMNP to do a trip with Ian from R and R Fly Fishing. This will be the perfect setup.
