Holston and Watauga trip
« on: March 17, 2008, 09:28:28 PM »
Going to fish the Holston and or Watauga on Easter weekend.  Anyone have any suggestions on fly patterns and areas to fish?   Any input would be great.  Thanks.

Yeah, it's been on my mind all day long to head east. Actually it's been on my mind for about 3 months, but I lost count. Only advice I could give is to take me with ya :D

BWO's are coming off on the Watauga~ dries and nymphs

Black caddis and midges for the So Ho

I would never travel to that part of the state without sulphers.

Let us know how you do and welcome to the board!

You cant go wrong on the Watauga with a #16 GRHE, my go to fly on that river ;D I like to fish it on the swing, but it works well dead drift under an indicater as well. Just my 2cents (and its not even worth that) but I used to fish it everyday ;D
I just don't care!

Let's see: should be a bunch of caddis pupae on the Watauga, getting active & almost ready to hatch.  Bunch of BWO'S still coming off both rivers, but sporadically.  I wouldn't hit either river without some attractor midges (zebra, mercury, etc.), and some scuds for the SoHo.  PM me if you want when you're headed over, I'm on one of these rivers almost every day, if there's a hatch or something, I'll be there or at least hear about it....
