OUTBOARD OWNERS READ THIS!
« on: May 01, 2008, 07:37:12 AM »
I had no idea this was a problem. I'm going to avoid the stuff like the plague.

Wow, that could be a big problem and it's one that I never even considered.

Thx for posting Mike.

I've seen other stories about ethanol "eating away" the fiberglass lined gas tanks older boats ... due to the acid compound formed when it combines with water ... nasty stuff to say the least ... I've noticed that all but a couple of stations in Cool Springs carry nothing but the dreaded blends ...

The E-10 is horrible on small engines as well. I have the carbs torn down on my weedeater and my lawnmower right now. Waiting on parts >:( I guess I will have to go out and fire them up ever two weeks during the winter.

Thank goodness I have never put any of that stuff in my pressure washer or I would be out of business right now. I wouldn't mind it so bad if the Caney was wadable 8)

Does that gas stabilizer stuff work to prevent those problems in small engines.  I don't weedeat, don't have an outboard, don't have a jetski, don't have a 'cycle, 4-wheeler, or scooter, but I do cut myall  grass at least once a year, and I do use my chainsaw cutting up stuff for woodworking/woodturning.  I'm sure those international businesses are DILIGENT in making sure all their parts are ethanol-proof!!

Jarrod, I think you have to drink some of that brew that Kyle or Grumpy have to fuel your engine.  ;)

hmmm ever wonder what it does to your car or truck...pretty interesting discussion on gearhead about this very subject a while back and they suggested the same thing...nothing clinical to prove it though

Man, is that what's killing my weedeater?  I've never thought about that, but seriously, I've rebuilt my weedeater 3 times in the past year!  Lawnmower seems ok with it, though, but my weedeater does not like the stuff - maybe because the gas/oil mix and it gums up in there?
