Rockfish on Priest

I went to JPP yesterday, 7/02 and found rockfish. We were trolling, landed a 4 lb. rock, qiuck released a 6 lb. rock and had 5 fish straighten the hooks. When I loosened the drag and let one run, it hung me on bottom in 30 ft. of water - lost the bait. I'm going to start using barge rope and welded rebar for hooks. I can't seem to catch them on anything but diving baits - tried jigs with strong single hooks, spoons with bigger hooks. The only thing left is live bait with stronger hooks. I don't mind releasing fish ... I just want to see the size before they go bye-bye. I don't know how long this will last, but they were fast and furious between 6:30 and 8 p.m.
