Elk continues to look and fish well
« on: July 17, 2008, 06:03:38 PM »
Spent several hours on the river both at the damn and at Ferris Creek bridge.  Fish were taking the standard midge patters and it was a "full" day.  For some reason the river seems to be covered up early in the day and by noon most folks have vacated the place.  So that may be a hint for us that don't like the lawn chair in the river with kids/dogs/and mother-in-law crowd.

Call me gullible or call me ignorant for not knowing - (don't worry, I've been called far worse especially last night by the guy who was tailing me down Old Hickory Blvd and I slowed down to about 20 mph for 5 miles - even the air coming out of his suv was colorful)

#32 Gpkna or the # 32 GNPKJ

What the heck are those?  I've searched pattern databases for those and can't find them.

OK, here's a picture of a size #32   O (hint -look inside the O ).  OK, seriously, fished the Elk this weekend and the water appears to be warming up a bit.

Today's fly was the Partridge and Orange soft hackle in size 18.  Fished from about 11 till 3 on Wed.   Now TVA's website said that they were going to generate from 3PM-5PM today... but when I arried a little after 10AM the horns were blowing and they started generating....  Finally quit about 11.  Never did start at 3PM.  Is somebody smoking something funny at TVA???

Fish were on the bite today given the approaching front.  Wore out two soft hackles completely....

Good to see you again Ralph,

TVA was running late today, didn't run water until 4pm.

Pretty thick Bubba hatch going on around the bridge ;D

twice in the lake near the dam, first time to try Red Dogs 15hp Honda on it, it's a short shaft , would push it but as it tried to plane out, would lose it's grip. Then last Thursday afternoon late, we rode around field testing the trolling motor.

Will probably order a Mer 25hp 4 banger Jet this coming week.
