Old Hickory Lake Report 8/20/08

Fished this afternoon on O.H. Lake for a couple hours.  I planned on panfishing because of the heat and reports I've had the past few days.  So, I left the seven weight at home and only took a four and a five weight.  Mistake,  the bass were on the blitz.  Caught two LM bass on a hopper stripped throught the water and thought that was the way to go.  Tied on a bigger slider and caught a few more.  Then they started schooling and I was always out of range with the big fly and a 5wt.  Anyways, caught the usual ton of panfish.  Caught 3 LM bass from 14-17 inches. And several around the 10-14 inches.  I even managed a few nice stripe.  All in all, I great couple of hours on the lake.    The 7wt will always go with me from now on.  Hope you all get out soon.

Where you out yesterday on Old Hickory. I seen someone using a fly rod in a personal pontoon around Rockland yesterday morning.

It wasn't me in the pontoon.  I don't have one.  I fish out of a blue and white Bullet bass boat.  If you ever see me and just wave me down I'll take you out.  I fish solo a lot and usually have open seat.  Most of my buddies use bait casters and don't like to get as close as I need to be to make a good cast.  I cover a lot of water when I fish, untill I find fish participating like I want them to.  I put in a lot at Shutes Branch.  I plan on fishing Preist in a few weeks for the bass/stripe in the jumps.
