Hey Ron
« on: October 30, 2006, 08:43:26 AM »
I heard you took a trip down the Caney in the SS. Hope all  is still well. I got your message late (my phone died roaming all day Sat) so I'll try to get in touch today sometime.

Did everything work good, no new holes anywhere? What did Leo think of the boat?
Did you get in trouble for staying out too late?

Hey Mike, I only have one thing to say bout that boat

OUT FREAKIN STANDING!!

i think it is pretty cool for an old fart to be able to get in and out of a boat so easily!  We went in some pretty skinny water and it did just great, with 3 of us in there.  I would have to say that 3 in that boat is a bit much when trying to drift fish, but we had a heck of a good time, caught a few colorful fish, and had great company.

Man did he get a good deal on that one!!

No new holes, nobody went over board, and I didn't tear up the prop.  The little boat had a full load for sure. I tipped the scales at 187 this morning so add that to the other two ruffians that boarded and you'll get the idea.

I'm starting a health plan this week though. I gotta lose about 25 pounds and get some lungs back. It's silly for me to not be able to walk up the ramp without getting winded.

Didn't get in trouble for staying out too late. That doesn't happen anymore.  ;D

I was a little nervous on the way home last night. No tail lights on the trailer.  When we picked it up at your house the other day we checked turn signals and break lights and they worked fine but the tail lights didn't come on and I forgot about it til last night.  The goal post lights don't light up either. I'm thinking there is a common problem with the two. I'm the world's worst with electrical stuff.  ??? ??? ???

It's crowded with three, but we eventually worked out a system of two fishing and one controlling the boat either with a paddle or the trolling motor.

Sweet. Sure wish I had a 20HP Jet though. ;D
Yesterday, I was at the bottom. I was at the bottom of a valley, in the river. Then my eyes hiked up the mountains to the snow capped peaks. I thought, "When I am at this lowest place I can be, standing in a river, everything is looking up."

Hmm I thought they were working. I just put those sealed Taillights on.  The post lights went out on me the first week after I installed them and I had to replace the bulbs and I know they were working last time out.

It almost sounds like a blown fuse maybe or something on the truck end if they didn't work when you picked up the boat.

Get one of those test lights with a sharp point at one end and a alligator clip at the other. Attach the alligator clip to a ground on the truck, turn on the parking lights and check the Green wire on both sides of the connector with the pointy end of teh tester. If the tester lights up the problem is at the trailer lights. If not, you have a blown fuse or something wrong in the truck side. It is really simple stuff once you get an idea what does what.

I'll be glad to take a look at them for ya. Just let me know where and when to meet you.

Thanks for the offer and the phone call, Mike. I'm going to buy a test light today or tomorrow. If I can't track it down, I'll take you up on the troubleshooting offer.
