Got back yesterday from two days of fantastic fishing on the White River. This was my 4th trip to the White River. The water was very very high due to 5-8 generators constantly running. The plan when I booked this trip with Clint Wilkinson back in June was to hunt big browns. Ususlly this time of year the White does not run generators and there are a lot of opportunities to wade and sight fish for big browns. Obviously we could not do that, but that did not stop us from trying to catch a big brown. Our game plan was to get on the river very early and throw very large streamers on sink tip. Once the fog lifted and the sun came out the streamer fishing was over. So we just used nymph rigs to catch anything that bits. The streamer fishing was hot! The first day I caught a 21 and 19" brown and lost one after a two minute battle that would have went 26-28 inches! The second day produced a huge 26" female brown that was full of eggs and a 19" beautiful male brown in full fall colors. We caught several smaller browns and several 14-18" rainbows on the nymph rigs later in the day. Already planning to go back next October in hopes of having low water! Here are just a few pictures.
