White River Vest at Basspro
« on: January 26, 2009, 03:43:36 PM »
I just bought one of the white river vests at Basspro shop.  I am not sure if there is a model # or anything like that, but it sold for $32.  I just got it home and was filling up the pockets wondering how I was going to remember where I put everything and I noticed something in the floor.  It was the back half of a button for a flap that goes over the zipper in front.  I thought that was pretty annoying but I wasn't about to drive back to Nashville over a button, but now the zipper won't stay up.  I can zip it up and it will slowly slide back down.  Anyway, vest and the rest of button went back in bag along with the receipt.  If anyone else tries them, I wish you luck, I don't think I'll be trying them again. >:(

Jason,

I am pretty sure I have an old Orvis vest in my closet at home.  I'll check when I get in tomorrow night.  If so, you are welcome to it.  It's got some character, but it's perfectly usable. I bought it used a few years ago from someone that was getting out of fly fishing.

I know you are new to fly fishing and the collecting of gear can be overwhelming.  If I can help you out with this, like so many people helped me out when I got started, I'd be glad to.
Yesterday, I was at the bottom. I was at the bottom of a valley, in the river. Then my eyes hiked up the mountains to the snow capped peaks. I thought, "When I am at this lowest place I can be, standing in a river, everything is looking up."

RonS's wonderful attitude and generosity have inspired me ... I've got an old Orvis vest that's free to a good home as well ... There's a little character to this vest as well ... but all the zippers work ... and it was a great vest for me over the years ... I just don't tend to carry as much on the river as I used to, so it hasn't seen much use over the past few years ...

:o Wow,  I certainly wasn't expecting that but I really appreciate the offers.  RonS posted first, so I'll PM you my address and I'd be glad to pay you for it.  Maybe someone else could use RSiegmann's vest.  I don't want to hog them all, I wasn't even expecting an offer I just didn't want someone else getting stuck with the White River Vest.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate the offers and I just hope someday I can help someone else get started.

Thanks alot,
Jason

Hmm,  Ron I just tried to PM you my address, but I am not sure if it worked or not.  We got this computer for my wife to go to school with, so it is brand new.  Unfortunately, it is only as good as the operator.   ;D

Thanks again,
Jason

Jason,

The PM worked.

I'll make sure it's still in the closet tomorrow night after the fundraiser meeting. I'm going straight to the meeting from the airport.

Rsiegman, very kind of you as well.  Hang on to yours for a couple of days just in case mine got donated elsewhere and I'm not remembering it.  Heck to get old.

Jason, that pay it forward thing is payment in full. You'll get your turn to help someone else.

Jason,

I can't find that vest here in TN.  My wife says it's in the Montana house.  She's probably right.

Sorry I spoke up before I checked.  When I get back there in April I'll dig it out and offer it up again in case someone needs a vest then.

RSiegman, you still in?

Yeah ... I'm still in ... my schedule is kind of crazy today and tomorrow ... but after Thursday I can probably swing meeting up somewhere to hand off a slightly used vest ...

I'm sorry I haven't posted to you guys lately.  We just spent over a $100 bucks having this brand new computer fixed.  It makes me so mad I can't see straight.  I just sent RSeigmann a PM with my address, I hope it went.

Thanks alot,
Jason
