Fiberglass Rods
« on: February 03, 2009, 09:21:44 PM »
If anyone has any interest in older fiberglass rods, I have a couple of real jewels here.

Rod 1 is a Shakespeare Wonderod, Standard Taper, No. FY-a110-8' o"  S, rated for FDH (6 or 5) .  This is an estate sale rod that has never been fished.  Pretty neat old rod in really nice condition.  $75.00  SOLD

Rod 2 is a Wright McGill, TrailMaster, 7 1/2', No 4 TMF, which makes it a 6 weight.  The Trailmaster is a 4 piece rod made for backpacking and is also an unfished rod.  This rod has the original rod bag ( a little bit shrunk in size as I washed it and mistakeingly put it in the dryer) and the original rod tube.  I recoated the wraps on this one as it had been in storage for almost 40 years and it was dried out.  Excellent rod for the backpackers and for those that need a short rod with a ton of reserve power in it. $85.00 SOLD

The new fiberglass is a rod that I built on a Mike McFarland blank.  Mike custom rolls his own blanks in Pennsylvania and this is one of his Spring Creek series blanks.  It is built with Snake brand guides and a really nice Snake Brand Coffee Bean Agate stripper, sliding band downlocking reel seat and is a 3 piece rod, 8' 5 wt.  with a very delicate dry fly action.  The Blank sells for $300 and the parts are another $100.  $300.
