HAPPY VETERANS DAY VETERANS!!!
« on: November 12, 2006, 07:49:38 PM »
I know I am a little late,, story of my life. I just wanted to say THANKS to any and all the veterans out there.
Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

Mike,

I don't know why others did not post a reply here. I'm sure they wish them well with gratitude. I know I do.

Memorial Day and Veteran's Day are, as of late, hard for me to deal with on a deep level. Those days have always been a little tough for me since about the 5th grade. That's when I really understood what those days were about. The older I get, the more emotional those themes are for me.

I tried to write this post a few days ago. I tried a half dozen times and wound up clearing them all out and just vacating the board. Some things are just too hard some times to put into words.  All I can say is thank you.
Yesterday, I was at the bottom. I was at the bottom of a valley, in the river. Then my eyes hiked up the mountains to the snow capped peaks. I thought, "When I am at this lowest place I can be, standing in a river, everything is looking up."

Thanks Mike, and Ron.
....Philadelphia PA, 1967, enroute to Knoxville TN from Valley Forge Army Hospital in Phoenixville PA and waiting for the train to the Airport in Port Authority and having to listen to being called warmonger, baby killer, and those were the kind words that were spoken.  To hear someone wish Veterans a Happy Veterans Day is something that this country needs to listen to and to take a step back in time.  All the people that think we are being cruel to prisoners in prison camps when we pressure them for answers...they don't have a clue what is happening to this country because of their ignorance to the real world.  I really fear for the future of the culture that gives us the right to be friends and to fish together, have the fun that we do as comrades of the great outdoors.

  Thanks guys... from a vet!

I have nothing but respect and admiration for our Veterans. My Grandfather flew B17's over Germany and my father was an Artillery Sergeant in a boat to Cuba that thankfully got turned around. Cuba had small nukes just waiting for the ground forces to land.  I screwed around and didn’t serve, big mistake IMO.

Leo were you in Airborne in 1967?

Damn,  that was a bad time to be over there. I bet you have some stories. If you ever want a place to host some stories I'll be glad to do it for ya.
