Elk River 4/25
« on: April 25, 2009, 08:35:21 PM »
Talk a beautiful day to fish.  Too bad everyone and his brother had the same idea.  The parking lot was jammed this morning at 9 am with fisherman, boaters, and more boaters.  I have never seen so many boaters at the Elk at Tims Ford.

The fishing was slow at first but once the boaters were all launched the fish were more cooperative.  Warren P was the top fisherman of our group of five including Jack H, Brad and Bill, the later top imports from Ohio.  Nothing but small fish, most in the 5-8" size.  I did see one string of fish which were harvested from further down the river and most of them appeared to be 10" or better.

Of course generation started at 2 pm bringing an early close to the fishing below the dam.  It was amazing how many boats launched late.  Just hope they got to safety before the river caught up with them.  We did see one powerboat launch with the release of the water.  Those guys are either brave or _________.

Well it looks like I missed meeting a whole bunch of people Saturday!!  Darn, got to pay more attention next time.

Sunday Warren and I took our guests from Ohio to the Duck River and ended up with a total of 44 Rainbows landed and released, any 2 would have made a nice meal!!  I won't tell you where or how but if anyone gets down this way I'll gladly show them.
