Inboard Jet Drive Jon
« on: November 20, 2006, 09:50:52 PM »
Any body besides me ever wondered about this winter project.

Find a SeaDoo that fell off trailer, buy it for a song, take the motor and drive unit out of it and inlet it into a Jon boat, brace it up and see how long it would last.

We were just talking about one of those sea-doo boats that you see everywhere now. You can get them pretty cheap on ebay.
We also wondered what a Jet ski would do on a Trout river... Can you imagine the cussing you would get the first time you blew through a run doing 60mph on a jet ski?  :o

About a bazillion times, Woodsman.

I think that would be a natural for a Riverhawk.

Google Jet Jon and you'll see where I've been reading up on them. Several home boat builders have done the conversion using jet ski motors and pumps, glassing them into stitch and blue boats or even retro fitting a jon boat.

If I could ever find a jet ski I could afford, the SSMinnow4Now will have handle bars!!  ;D
Yesterday, I was at the bottom. I was at the bottom of a valley, in the river. Then my eyes hiked up the mountains to the snow capped peaks. I thought, "When I am at this lowest place I can be, standing in a river, everything is looking up."

I have always wanted to make a wooden Jon, about 5 years ago my dad and I went over to Shelbyville and I took photos and measured the one I rode (bailed water out of) in as a kid.

Could still make it and use the wooden Jon as the mold for a glass Jet drive Elk River Special.

I've been diddling with this idea for near 15 years.

looked at a smaller size SeaDoo today, it was only 210hp, dang thing would be a death trap on a river.
