Trout fix needed
« on: October 18, 2009, 09:37:33 PM »
Guys, I have a free pass for some fishing this Saturday morning. Where in the world can someone get a trout fix this Saturday? I have both a bass boat and a jon boat but the jon boat is only powered by a 44lb thrust trolling motor.

I really want to wade but looks like that is out of the question unless I hit a creek near by home here in Goodlettsville and that would only be for red-eye or small bass.

Thought about the Caney but too strong for my jon boat and not willing to risk my big boat.

Maybe the Obey but it's 2 hr drive for a morning of fishing.

What about the river south of Nashville..any trout wading worth the drive? I never fished the Elk or Duck.

Travis,
For wading,
I highly recommend the Elk if..... they drop the sluicing and spilling down to 500 cfs by Saturday. I love it at that level.
I have never fished it above that level, but would guess that 600 would be OK.
Some one else will have to advise you on floating.
The fishing should be good. They stocked last Thursday, Oct 15.
If you have never been there, I suggest that you fish at the Hwy 50 bridge below the dam.
If I get down there this week, I will post more info.

Travis,
The Elk should be good to go on Saturday.
TVA will cut back the spilling and sluicing for the weekend.

Thanks for the info William,

I am intending on trying the Elk one day. I might not have enough time on Saturday. The Elk is 2 hrs from me to the south. Looks like I may end up in a creek close to home.

You made a good decision Travis.
TVA changed their schedule and will be generating this weekend.
For now, next weekend should be good to go.
Like you, I am going to fish my local waters this weekend.
Good luck.
