Motors out the ying yang!!
« on: November 30, 2006, 03:47:28 PM »
Shazam!!  two days ago, 3 motors, 2 of them in the shop.....

today, 4 motors and all running like a top!!!  For Sale...2 decent motors for small boats...

Icthus has already spoken for the 20 on the boat...it's his!

Left to sell:
Mercury 20 HP short shaft - just out of the shop with the following work being completed.  Lower unit rebuilt with gear spacing set, new grease, new seal, new impeller kit, overhauled carb, and new plugs...Hagan s in Lebanon did the work and did it not only very well but exceptionally fast. This motor will bring my barge up on plane really quick and runs out very fast for a small motor on a big ole barge. $450 Has the tank with it that is nearly half full of gas (would recommend a new hose)

Mercury 9.8 HP 2 cycle, short shaft - just out of the shop with lower unit serviced, gear spacing set, new impeller kit, new coil, tune up, and water jacket cover gasket.   Very sweet and quiet little motor perfect for Gheenoe or RiverHawk.  Motor has great compression and runs like a top now  $350 Tank and hose included...

Glenn,
I am going to.  I had to come home and do some measuring just to make sure....you kno how that Grumpster can get ya all discombobulated on stuff!!  should work really well based on what I saw and now that I have measured, it is definitely a short shaft motor but sure looked bigger sitting on that stand.

What did you buy Leo?
Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

Did ya tell Craig that that rope on that motor is 14' long & it normally wouldn't fire til ya got to the end of the pull?
I think he'll be OK, the way i figger, he ought to be right up on the nose of the RHawk bout the time it fires, now if the rope breaks, he'll be in the drink.
Most folks think that is a casting brace on Leo's boat, that's the backstop to keep ya from running out of the boat whilst you're pulling on the string to start it ;D
Man that's one long starting rope.

Leo,

I'll trade you one black lab and one golden retriever type dog for the 20 Merc. I'll throw in a hundred pounds of dog food and 2 chew toys.

What do you say?
Yesterday, I was at the bottom. I was at the bottom of a valley, in the river. Then my eyes hiked up the mountains to the snow capped peaks. I thought, "When I am at this lowest place I can be, standing in a river, everything is looking up."

I'd never really trade 'em for something. They aren't mine to trade. I don't think people own dogs. They share lives.

They are available for adoption though.  We moved to this little house with a little yard from the country. They are sad here. No room to run. Locked in this little tiny back yard and in the garage at night.

I'm serious. I think they are sad. Deb thinks they are sad. They need room to run and be dogs. I'll get some pictures up in a few days. Sweet dogs.

Leo-

Can you get me the serial number and shaft length on that 20 Merc please?

I called the jet pump guys. They need this info to tell me how much a conversion kit will cost.

Thanks.

Ron

Ron, it is a short shaft motor and the serial number is 3232832.  Let me know what he says I would like a jet for my 25

Leo-I contacted the folks that Mike provided the link to.

http://www.outboardjets.com/

They wanted to know the model year too, and exact shaft length before they would ship a unit out, by the way.

Their V-25 model pump is the pump for motors from 18-25 horses. Complete conversion stuff for the tiller model motor is $1,377.00 plus shipping. However--Clark Marine in Franklin is their dealer for this area.

Sales must go through their dealer so then you get to tack on another 9.25% or so in sales tax which brings it up to $1,554.37 plus shipping.

I don't have that kind of change laying around. I'd have to sell my motor first, but I'm actually pretty fond of the shiney little silver Honda. I want to keep it around for a while.

Anyway, my daydream is now shattered. I'll keep my eyes open for a buyer for you.
