Friday off - where to fish?
« on: October 27, 2009, 04:21:08 PM »
Any recommendations of some fishable / wadeable water?  I've got Friday off and want to get out somewhere!   ???

Looks like the Caney is off until 8am - even with a sluice going it still be would be doable.  I may give it a shot!

Man, I wish I had some advice for you on a good place to go. I have a free pass from the wife for a Saturday of fishing that is two weeks overdue because of rain.

Good luck if you get out.

At this time of the year in these conditions, I would look beyond the Caney, Obey and Elk to the secondary streams that were stocked back in the spring. Too many times people get fixated on the big spots, but the smaller creeks can be much more productive, particularly at this time of year. A 12 incher stocked in April may be 15-16 now and for all purposes a wild fish. Do your research on the spring stockings and see what's left. There may be more than you expect.

Too much water still at the Caney - website shows 1800 with no gen. so that is a wide open sluice.  I'm sticking to some creeks and rivers closer to home...
