Elk Head, the source of the Elk River

The Elk gets it's start out of this bluff east of Pelham, out Hwy 50 at the base of the Cumberland Plateau going to Altamont.

This is high off colored water, both of these two were taken off the bridge at the source.





this is just to the left of the top photo, in normal water, it flows under the bluff and comes out in first photo. Notice in the middle back, it is boiling, when it is clear, it is deep.

Very good pictures David, interesting to say the least.  I wonder what the water quality is like at that point.

There is a seep hole similar to that flows into Cane Creek and then into the Caney.....
