memorable moments

Well, we are at the end of another great year of fishing. I was thinking back over 2009's fishing, and boy was it a great year and I have some great memories. I guess one of my most memorable of the year was one Sunday evening a few months ago at location X on the Cumberland River , Mike and I were into the big boys. We finally decided after catching several big fish that we would stop being greedy and leave biting. I never though that was a possibility, but it acually felt good. I have been fly fishing for a long time, and it just don't happen like that too often.
Let's hear your most memorable of 2009.
I just don't care!

And just think March is just around the corner again... Mine was that giant fish that pulled loose. That was a pig of a fish.
Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

This was a good year of fishing for me as well. Back in Feb, which seems ages ago I bumped up my personal best rainbow and in early summer did the same for a brown. I also kept my streak of 5lb or better bass going for another year. But hands down my best moment was sitting on the bank while my little girl of just under 20 months (at the time) experienced her first fishing trip. Watching her hold the rod and actually reel correctly on her own just melted me all up inside.

Here's to 2010, I am looking forward to more fish and memories.

It was a great season of fishing moments.

Beginning with my first muskie with Mike and Jarrod in the Spring:

Great topwater Hybrids with my brother a little later in the Spring:

Mid Summer Florida getaway:

Here's to a great year...and the places we'll revisit in 2010!

My most memorable and treasured moment of 2009 has nothing to do with fishing. Mine is watching my dad fully recover and be stronger than ever after quadruple bypass surgery.

Same here, Steve.  I'd say the best memory of this year is the birth of my daughter.

Fish on!

Most memorable fish of 09 was a beautiful fat smallmouth on a very small stream, using a crawfish pattern I tied, I have fished on and off since I was a baby.  And it's just a few miles from my back door.  Just one of those days I needed to wet a line to keep my sanity, the fish, the sunset, and the surroundings where icing on the cake.

This was the best year of my life.  The wife telling me we are going to have a kid, my wife telling me I dont have to sell the boat because we are having a kid, my wife telling me I can take my pal to the islands.  I also met a great fella in Fl that unlocked the mystery of sticking multiple snook around the lights.  Lastly, standing in the back of boat on the Cumberland and watching my pal fight a 26# stripper, and at the end of night start laughing because we banged a personal best 18 striper the smallest being 16#s.

WHAT A GREAT Year!!!!!!

Icthus - Love me those reds!

Most memorable.  Getting to fish with my Dad back in October - first time in years I have been able to slow him down enough to get him out fishing!

My moments would have to be hanging out at Cumberland Transit while my brother was in Vandy. Thanks Grumpy Leo and Mike yall really helped me through a rough few weeks
The more I fish the more I realize it isn t about the fishing.  The older I get the more I realize it is about the moments God has hand crafted just for me.
