Carpet or no carpet on front deck ?
« on: January 09, 2010, 10:45:11 PM »
ON my 16 x 48 Tracker would you carpet the front casting deck or not ? If so, is one glue better than the other for putting down quality outdoor carpet ?

Steve is right, carpet does get old and rip and stain and hold a slight stench at times.  However, if you fish in the winter you want carpet or something to keep your deck from getting slick. I have carpet, I have friends that don't, I dont worry about slipping, they do, I have to glue my carpet down sometimes, they dont.

Bottom line, if you dont fish in the winter then dont have to worry about ice go with no carpet.  If you fish all year around no matter the temps, put carpet down.  One thing to think about is the sound and things hitting your deck while you fishing.

Next boat I have will be sprayed with Rhino Liner or Line-x.  Easy to keep clean and with some texture for grip.  I will also spend the extra money for a light color.

I vote for no carpet. the line-x is a good option and they might even be able to match the color of your boat. My G3 Jon has a sand-infused painted finish on the front deck that you might wanna look into. I'll do some research and see if one can buy a sand-infused spray or whatever and let you know. I'd like to make my rear deck skid-resistant with something as well

Non-slip textured linex.
Yesterday, I was at the bottom. I was at the bottom of a valley, in the river. Then my eyes hiked up the mountains to the snow capped peaks. I thought, "When I am at this lowest place I can be, standing in a river, everything is looking up."
