Louisiana Trip
« on: January 28, 2010, 04:25:05 PM »
Went down to Southern La this past weekend.  2nd year in a row down there that we just missed some great fishing weather.  Had a blast though and managed some fish and a shot at a real monster.  I had about a 30 pounder on for 15 minutes only to see the fly come out right at the boat.

Most pictures wont make it past the censors.  4 guys in an RV parked on a canal with a potatoe gun and lots of anebriants.

There were 3 or 4 caught like this little guy...

2 and a 1/2 minutes of my 15 minute battle with "melonhead".

I'll be back down there again next year... until then I may need therapy.

Pretty cool Phil, I wish I could get back down there this year. Were you around Venice?

Hopedale... think that's where you went too wasn't it?  Almost went into New Orleans Sunday night after the Saints game, but we wanted to take another half day of fishing instead.

Yea that's where we were. We never made it to NO either. I think next trip we'll stay in Slidell where there is at least some civilization.

I stay in Slidell with a friends family when I go to NOLA for annual boondoggle then we migrate to the city once everyone arrives. Easy drive to NOLA.

Phil, nice report!

The group I'm traveling with down there actually likes the wasteland.  It's a frontier, no women, no law.  I've spent weeks at a time in N.O. and don't really feel like I have to go.  Plus there is something nice about waking up and getting in a boat, never dealing with a car.  "Civilization" in Louisiana is an Oxymoron anyway!

Phil, I agree with you on the lack on civilization. I prefer it that way.

Don’t get me wrong I liked the wasteland aspect too but a big mans gota eat every now and then.. FWIW stay away from the Waffle House in Saint Bernard. Poor Todd had a no holds barred grudge match with the Think n' Stink followed by a bad case of the sharts all the next day.

Hey Todd if you read this aren’t you craving some whole fried Crab. I’ve been told theys good on a samitch with mayo slathered all over it. :P

A few more pics that finally made it from one of the other cameras on the trip to my computer.
