Zekie
« on: February 18, 2010, 07:40:55 PM »
They come in all sizes.  Big shaggy ones that slobber all over you, little short haired ones that love to drive you craxy with shrill barking and running through the house.  This one was a little guy, long hair that he loved to have brushed, and she did too, several times a day, and he snored loud enough to wake the neighbors it seemed.  In his youth he was a show dog, but we broke him from that and he deighted us for the past 10 years, and we made sure that he always had everything he needed and wanted, except for the long long walks in the woods, sure do wish I could take him on one of those again.  Maybe someday!!
His little heart gave out on him today, and it was sad to see him suffer.  I couldnt stand to see him gasping for air and hardly able to stand.  We took him to the Vets office shortly after lunch, and while she said there was hope, it was only a glimmer.  They kept him on oxygen and she called me at 4:30 and said he wasn't going to improve, so Kathy and I went to say good bye to a really good friend .  It was the hardest thing I have had to do in a long long time.  I will miss the little guy more than you could possibly imagine.

Leo, I am so sorry. I know how close we grow to our furry family members as lost one a few years back.

I will keep you and Kathy in my thoughts and prayers.

Please know that Zekie will be running over the rainbow bridge to play with my little Satchel and all the other wonderful souls that are there as well to greet him as he comes home to be with his friends and family.

Blessed be those that warm our hearts and comfort our spirits.

I'm sorry for your loss Leo. Having been there not too long ago myself I know it was a tough day.

Know that you did the noble, and best,  thing for your friend when it counted most.  Buster, Maggie, Kelsey, Dixie and so many other of our collective special friends were waiting to welcome Zekie and show him around his new home where there is no hunger, no fear and a never ending supply of rabbits and squirrels to chase!

Sorry to hear that Leo.
Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

That dog could snore, i won't ever forget that day at the house, i thought my wife was asleep there :o I know the Blue Heeler misses our recently departed Retriever as much as we do & i know how you feel.
Thank goodness we have the sense to take pics of the magnificent animals that the good Lord put into our lives.
You can't help but to love a dog.
