duck river 3-27
« on: March 28, 2006, 10:25:37 AM »
went to the duck river today and had a good afternoon. Took a friend who told me he used to FF with his dad many years ago. It was like riding a bike to him. his first few casts made it into the trees but after that his rythym was back. we had good luck in deeper water with wooly boogers run deep. fish were taking bugs off the surface but i couldn't get em to hit my dry. the fish were all fairly small with a couple of bigger stockers. i caught on little guy that had a corn hook stuck thru his nose. looked like it had been there for a while too.  my buddy has got the fever now. he says he's gonna gear up with a new outfit and waders soon.

Hello adamtn, welcome to the site.  How'd you hear about it?  I actually found out about it by checking the properties on a picture Mike had posted.

Thanks for sharing your story on the Duck.  I never have fished it, but intend to one day. You know how that is.

Did it make you feel good to reignite the passion in your buddy?

That's great.

Yesterday, I was at the bottom. I was at the bottom of a valley, in the river. Then my eyes hiked up the mountains to the snow capped peaks. I thought, "When I am at this lowest place I can be, standing in a river, everything is looking up."

Welcome Adam!

Where are you fishing on the Duck? Is it close to my buddy at Custom tackle in Shelbyville? When the fishing slows down at the Duck take your friend to the Caney. Its more open and a little easier casting. The Fishing there has been most excellent this year so far.

Thanks again for the report.

my friend called me tuesday and he'd done taken off of work early and was ready to wet a line. We decided to go back to the same spot as monday on the duck. Fishing was a little slower today and we caught fewer trout. We caught several redeye though and my friend caught one nice little fat redeye. I think i might try a new river/creek tommorow morning.
