Spent last weekend offshore in the Gulf of Mexico - waaaayyyyy offshore - about 125 miles or so.

Left Saturday night - got back to the marina about 3 on Monday. We were primarily hunting yellowfin and fishing was off - perhaps due to the water being colder than usual. Still caught a few YFT in the 20-30 lb range, a bunch of blackfin tuna - dang are those little buggers tough fighters and some amberjack. Fishing could have been better but the company was good and it was a good time nonetheless. Here are a few shots from the trip....
The boat....

Where we started the day Sunday AM...

Typical of the YFT caught...

Fresh tuna steaks anyone?

Sunset Sunday....

Where we set up for fishing Sunday night....it's amazing to me how many of these rigs there are out there and just how dang big some of them are...

An amberjack I caught - if you've never caught one of these "reef donkies" you really owe it to yourself at least once - it's just unbelievable how hard they pull - there were times with this one where it simply was not possible to actually turn the reel handle and all I could do was hold on and use the waves to help me gain line back - and this one wasn't even really a BIG one... perhaps 50 lbs or so.
