How do I....
« on: March 10, 2010, 07:28:42 PM »
So I got me a new Cigar Caddy today so I can keep the sticks fresh on the fishing trips.  http://www.qualityimporters.com/qualityimporters/products_detail.asp?ID=112  How does the thing work?

How long of a fishing trip are we talking about?

Brandon, while I wait on your reply on the other post. The little puck in the top should be dripped (very lightly) with distilled water if you are going to be gone longer than ten days. The only thing to be concerned about is getting the cigar directly underneath the puck too moist.

BTW, the little puck is generally just a plastic ring of some type that retains a piece of floral foam.

I will say this, I am headed to Hawaii for two weeks for my 5th anniversary and I will likely not use humidification on my cigars. I pack anOtterbox that seals well and will retain plenty of moisture in the cigars while I am gone.

Got for when I got to Arkansas in May, will be gone for a week.  Thanks for the help Steve.  So really the only time you need the moisture is for extended periods of time (longer than say 10 days?)

Go buy a nice rubbermaid container at Kroger or Target that seals well. Take that puck or buy some of these http://www.heartfeltindustries.com/proddetail.asp?prod=HT_05_65 and use them to store your cigars until you have a humidor.

Please feel free to ask more questions. I am happy to help.

I bought one of those a couple of weeks ago when I ordered my Humidor - more because I wanted a crush and water proof container to carry my cigars on the boat with me than for long term storage. My only comment about the Caddy so far is that I could only fit 4 sticks in it when I went on the offshore trip - I know that's specific to the particular size sticks you're storing but I don't think what I put in there were really all that unusual in size so I kinda wish I'd opted for a 10 stick Caddy instead of the 5 stick version.  Other than that I like it so far.
