Jackson Coosa Pics
« on: December 11, 2010, 10:57:43 PM »
Thought I would show some pics of my new Jackson Coosa (which is made here in TN):

A couple of pics of my new Coosa:

Elite Seat in low position

in high position

Rod holder

Same holder showing the tip grove

Rod stager on the front hatch
rear tankwell and angled flush mount rod holder (which are solid so no leaking into the kayak)

replaceable keel pad
Scuppers, which are inside a protective groove.  Also the leading edge is very thick material and trail edge is recessed slightly deeper than leading edge.

Standing area (23 inches wide), size 11 shoes in pic
And the hull shot, the gloss and sun angle make it appear more scalloped than it really is. the v in the center of the boat and the stern rise for the keel is very slight.

and the promo video (turn up to 720p)

Where is the nearest local dealer?  I want to see your video standing while fishing and then jumping while doing a 360.  I think Bassin Drew could stand while fishing on a tooth pick. :o

I get marketing, however, I have never caught a fish standing in my yak on dry land, (here in Tn), once in Tampa, Fl) when the mud was deep[ and I dint want to get out.) .  Looks a lot  Perception--what does this manuel sled do in the water?

Your probably right.

I think I could do a 180, but I will wait till warmer water.  Possible a 360 but landing my 235-240 lbs but most of the results would probably be more comical.

I like it, what is the weight?

I am guessing it is around 60 lbs.  Heavy but not overly heavy.  I can still load it up on the roof of an SUV, and with the side handle it is easy to carry suitcase style.

Best feature is the ability to standup, makes flycasting so much easier.

Oh yea, Glenn the dealers are listed at Jackson Kayak webpage (click rec dealers then scroll down on the bottom right for TN).

I have bought kayak gear from the Against the Flow and Rock Creek, both have treated me well. Also with the release of the Coosa, more stores are starting to become Jackson dealers, so there are probably some new dealers that are not listed yet.

hey B,

have you had a chance to get that thing wet yet?

I'm torn between attempting to build my own glass/foam SUP-type rig (think http://www.flatstalker.com/ without the platform, a tiny bit more rocker, and a slightly concave bottom) or just investing in the standard Coosa for summer low-water and some of the less jet-friendly Plateau rivers...

I have done about 5 hours of flat water (Watts Bar) in it.  I have not had it on the river yet.

However, I did paddle the prototype on about 5 miles of the Duck back in October, which was exactly the same hull, just some minor differences in the scupper placement.

I am hoping to get it wet early next week but it will probably be a flat water trip again.

I like to fish all day and my knees/feet get tired after a couple of hours.  That combined with lack of secure storage limits SUP to me.  Also I am not as agile as I used to be,  standing up from a flat sitting position takes some effort.

gou, your welcome to borrow mine to give it a test spin.
