Frogg Togg Waders Pilot or Anura
« on: March 26, 2010, 09:41:07 AM »
I'm needing some new waders and I saw Frogg Togg has a pair of breathables. I was wondering if anybody has a pair of the Pilots or Anuras waders and if they like them? If you know anything to ease my decision, that would be great.

jonboy,

I have no experience with the Froggs.

What size are you? Waist, height, inseam, boot?

Yesterday, I was at the bottom. I was at the bottom of a valley, in the river. Then my eyes hiked up the mountains to the snow capped peaks. I thought, "When I am at this lowest place I can be, standing in a river, everything is looking up."

I don t  know about the frog brand but I will say I ve been wearing a pair of the simms guide waders for 5 yrs and haven t had any problems out of them which is amazing for how much I fish and how hard I am on them.
The more I fish the more I realize it isn t about the fishing.  The older I get the more I realize it is about the moments God has hand crafted just for me.

I can't speak for the waders but if they are anything compared to the other weather gear they should be good. I have had several toggs rain suits and currently own their top line believe they call it Elite. It was over $100 for the suit. I have been completely satisfied and will contine to but them when ever this one wears out.

Let us know what you find out on them. I am gettng ready to be in that market again.

They are currently on back order at the Frogg Toggs, so it may be awhile before I get them. I think I'll go with the Pilot Waders and the Anura Boots.

I would like a pair of these, but they are so expensive and if this product is comparable. Why pay $300+, when Frogg Toggs cost substantially less. Just looking at a good pair for under $200 with boots.

Because having to buy something twice or three times usually cost alot more in the long run. Something as important as waders is not the place to save a few bucks. Simms waders are made in Bozeman MT and are individually tested for leaks. They offer some of the best customer service in the industry. They Stand firmly behind everything they sell. They have lower end imported waders for people who don't want to drop as much money.

I have a pair of Bass Pro White River waders for my backup.  If you don't want to spend the money for Simms, the Bass Pro would be the choice I'd recommend.  In my opinion, they have a better fit and they're more breatheable than the other less expensive waders I've tried.  They retail for about $100 but you can find them on sale once or twice a year for around $75.

I'm sure they are great waders. Went to the SoHo last week and my fishing buddy who has a pair of Simms, was pretty wet after a day of fishing. Apparently, they didn't check those! Not even been used 5 times and they got a leaky leaky. I'm just asking if someone has a pair and can give me a unbiased opinion.

Well I think most of the guys here are unbiased and they swear by the Simms. I've not seen anyone wearing the froggs except that pic of Tubs in those green neoprene waders but they weren't Forgg Togg they just looked like a giant Frog.
By all means try them out and let us know how they work out.

Sorry Tubs but those waders were hilarious. ;D

Simms are the best and they stand behind their product. I have had a pair of G3's for almost 8 years and no problems. Go with rubber soles on your boots. Saw where Alaska is saying no felt after 2011. If you are fishing the SOHO and Watuaga and then going to other tailwaters like the Caney or the Elk please get rubber. We don't have didymo here yet and would like to keep it away for as long as we can.

Checkout the Dan Bailey Barebones, $149 & i've never heard a negative review of them.
