I've convinced my Dad that he needs a Gheenoe.

We were initially looking for a used one with a decent sized motor (in good running condition), but just can't find one.

I found a decent deal on an '05 15'4" Highsider with 3.3hp Merc, but we really need a little more motor- in the 5-10hp range.  Preferrably a two stroke.

We're really looking for a bare bones boat here, not one that's set up with all the goodies.

Thanks.

Keep an eye on www.customgheenoe.com.  If there is a good deal on a used Gheenoe out there, it is most likely going to show up on the Gheenoes For Sale page on their forum.

You may have to drive to pick it up, but that's the most likely place to find a good deal.

You may want to drop into Fly South and talk to Monroe there also.  He knows small river boats pretty well, and he stays pretty connected - he helped me find my boat, which I love.

Thanks bd.  I'll try to stop by and talk to Monroe.

I decided to pull the trigger on the 15'4 Highsider.  Called the guy and he'd just sold it.

Back to the search.  I'm going to set up a craigslist alert for my cell phone so I can be on top of it when one shows up somewhere close (enough).

Take a look in the Atlanta Craiglist, a few listed there reasonably priced

Thanks Leo!

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/boa/1683017035.html

Just bought it, but unfortunately can't go pick it up for two weeks.  Anybody going to Atlanta want to drag her home (Nashville) for me?   ;D  Got a little better deal than advertised, plus a couple of other throw-ins.  I also found a 1969 Evinrude 9.5 locally.  Runs like a champ and right around 50lbs.  Should be a neat little boat.

I'm trying like hell to get the idea out of my head to cut it up and throw this in there:

I have two of these motors, supposedly 17HP with the CDI and larger carbs, about 40lbs.  Wonder what it would be like with a jet AND the outboard.  Best of both worlds, or a bloated pig?  Somebody please tell me it's not worth it.  The folks that run that site have made a (low) offer on the motors.

Seriously, if anyone's heading to ATL in the next couple of weeks or so and would like to make $100 for the trouble, please let me know!

Oh, and still looking for another Gheenoe for Dad.
