Man those are some tough shots to get right and I still am not satisfied. Its straight up, waay up, and the the sycamore tree provides alot of shadow while the sky provides lots of light and tons of color robbing contrast. The meter on the camera doesn't know what to do. Expose for the bird and blow the highlights, expose the sky and the bird in black. Finding the middle ground is tough but I'm learning. I shot with spot metering and tried to keep the spot on the bird. After all the bird is what I wanted folks to see.

When we see those Nat Geo shots that are perfect most folks have no idea the hell those photogs go through to get that shot.
