Will that size turn over an indicator and #20 midges or should I do some with a smaller weight line?

This one is using 10lb small diameter mono.

I made mine up with 8 lb mono and used it today for the first time.  Worked great!  I definitely prefer this over the tapered leader I was using.  Smallest thing I used today was a size 18 and had no problems plopping it where I wanted.

Since you said you have plenty of braided line, here's something you can try.  I was experimenting with it today and it worked quite well for me.

I setup about a 4 inch long piece of spiderwire with a loop on each end.  I attached that to my furled leader with a standard loop to loop connection.  Then I did the same with my tippet, in this case 6x fluoro.  I attached my indicator (a thingamabobber) to the spiderwire section that was between the tippet and furled leader.  It never slid up or down, it didnt kink up my leader or tippet, and overall I'm really happy with the way it performed.

The only issue I had was my tippet was breaking off at the loop knot.  The perfection loop I was using was breaking right at the knot.  Happened about 3-4 times, and then I switched to a surgeon's loop.  After I changed knots nothing broke me off.

The downside of this rig is that you cant adjust the depth under the indicator as easily.  It has to be done by lengthening or shortening the tippet.  In that regard its sort of like a right angle rig.  The good side though is that you can quickly convert over to dries or streamers and then back to nymphs without re-doing everything.  I'm not sure if its going to hold up well to big fish though, everything I caught today was in the 14" or smaller range but After I fixed my knot on the tippet I had zero problems.  Caught about 10-12 on it.  I imagine it will hold up well to larger fish, especially with the extra shock absorbing characteristics of the furled leader.

I made one with 6 pound Fireline and I fished it 12 hours straight today. I absolutely love it. It does what so many furled leaders don't and that's float like a cork. I'll be making more of these, lots more. Very very impressed.
