Hey, Thelearner,
What size are you.  I've got several pair of waders that my wife and I, sons, grandkids have used and if I could find one that doesn't leak that fits you, you are welcome to them.

Wow, that's mighty nice of you troutaddict.  Thank you so much!

I'm kind of a little guy.  size 8 or 9 boot and 32 waist so would that make me a small or medium in waders?  I really don't even know how they size them?

Got anything like that? If so, how much would you want for them? I'm kind of strapped as I spent my little bit of money on my rod/reel/flies etc. to get me started.  I didn't realize how important waders would be.

you are correct 42 to 43 degress its probally the only place that you can get dehydrated and hypothermia at the same time.  Man they have some football shaped trout
The more I fish the more I realize it isn t about the fishing.  The older I get the more I realize it is about the moments God has hand crafted just for me.

I'll pull out the waders tonight when I get home.  May have a pair that fits.  Not my size of 'old, ugly and fat'  ;D  I'll check and see what I have and if we can find a pair that fits, I'll charge you a hand shake and lots of fishing reports.

Now that's a lesson in fly fishing manners.  Good to see in this day!

Ok, I've three pair we are not using.  One is men's large, one medium, and one small, surely one might fit.  Might have to use a patch kit on one, if you choose it.  I'm leaving town tomorrow and will not be back till Monday.  Making a visit to the Little Red in Arkansas.  I update when I get back and figure out where to meet.

Awesome! Have fun on the Little Red.  I hear it's a great river.  Be sure and post a report.

I'm probably the medium or the small and I live in town in Nashville.

Thanks so much!

Great, I live in Smyrna, so that's not going to be hard to do at all.

Are you flying or driving to Little Red? if driving, you're going to pass right through Nashville.

If it's inconvenient though, no worries.  We'll hook up next week.

All,
1st post here...But Long time fly fisherman 30+ years, former shop manager, fly tyer etc...
So take my ramblings for what they are worth. Not much by any standard but just food for thought.

1st: water temps even with the creek and the spill way flowing are hovering around 42-45 at the bridge below the dam. Fish will be sluggish. Find the warmer water.

2nd: I always wear waders. Don't care how hot it gets or where I am fishing. I got really sick years back from a water born bacteria that got into a cut on my ankle while wet wading. You would be amazed at the stuff that is churned up off the bottom of the lake when lakes turn over or simply through generation. Granted not everyone's immune system is the same. Just be careful of open sores or cuts while wet wading.

3rd: Find other access points. Talk with farmers. Use a kayak. Check the maps. There are some amazing places to fish further down river and typically always hold fish. 52-to the low 60's is ideal water for the fish. They will stay in colder and up to about 70 for the browns but the most important aspects are the amount of dissolved oxygen and food.  Find those two with a nice temp and you will find fish and lots of them.

Regards,
~~~waders~~~
Did you move up here closer or are you just making the drive to the Elk? You guys have any trout water over the border in AL?
Thanks for the warm welcome.
Live in Decatur. Drive up pretty frequently. Have land in Shelbyville.
The Sipsey below Smith Lake has trout but can be treacherous when they turn the water on. No where for it to go but down river and it is basically one big ditch. Rises very quickly.
