This past week I took a fishing trip with my Father down to Naples, Fl. I left last Sat. morning, fished the St. Pete area with my mom that night, woke up the next morning watch my nephew go 3 for 4 in a baseball game (two doubles and a single; 10 years his uncle will be rich), loaded up the boat with some "Pinners" for my pops and off we went. Went and found a cheap hotel dropped off our clothes and headed out to the water. As we were getting our bearings we started to hear some snook bust between the islands. We troll down there and the third cast my dad catches one, and then another and then another, I get into the action and as the sky darkended the bait fish moved off. We go and try to find some lights in the Northern Naples, but they were few and far between. Only a large trout and some lady fish were had that evening.
The next thee days we set our sights in southern naples down to Marco island. The pictures don't do justice to what we caught and what is around the lights. I had all itention on video taping what it was like fishing around lighted docks, but a rain storm pushed through and dumped 5 inches of water in the boat destroying the video camera
here are some pics from last week, I can honestly say that do not do justice to what we caught and what is down there. I saw a guy jump a 100 lbs Tarpon, and one jumped 4 feet out of the water chasing a school of mullet about 30 feet behind the boat, I had to wipe after that incident. The snook were where they should have been, the reds were caught in the last 10 minutes of day light on a mud flat. If you want to fish the salt and have good success and dont want to hire a guide go to naples. I am not saying the fish are dumb, I am saying their is a lot of them and they can be caught as long as you can cast.
