Tellico
« on: October 18, 2010, 07:56:40 AM »
I just spent my 2nd weekend in Tellico, low water & leaves dropping fast making the fishing tough. Last weekend, 7 of us fished several different streams hard & everyone caught a bunch of fish, no time for pic taking.
This weekend, wife, daughter, bro-n-law & his 5 year old daughter came up Saturday, did a little fishing in the leaf choked N. River, found some new brookie water on a hike, took a lot of pics & ate way to good thanks to Lodge cooking gear ;D
I'll get some pics loaded in a couple of days, hopefully, one or two will come out.

I am jealous Ronnie. Would prefer to have done that rather than flying to Vegas for my conference.  :-\

That sounds like an awesome trip.

How far is Tellico from Nashville? I know it is down there in the corner below Maryville but never actually drove it.

Cool area, was just up there last weekend myself. Brookies weren't in peak color, but not bad. Guess I need to get back up there and find a really hot male for photos...

Takes me 3.5 hours to get to Tellico Plains from the Bellevue area...another 1/2 hour to go upstream to where we camp.  You can go I40 towards Knoxville then I75 down to Sweetwater before you head east again or go the route (more scenic) I like to go....I40 to Crossville, down and across Watts Bar dam to Sweetwater...both routes take about 3.5 hours from Nashville according to Google.  I'm going this week with my brother...we'll probably catch our limit of leaves.  ;D

That does not sound too bad of a drive. Especially since I am used to the drive to G'burg and I am sure less traffic.

I assume the only real expense stay wise is a primitive camping pass? Or does that area require a fishing permit in addition too?

No permit needed to fish Oct-March, there are primitive camping spot's on N. River Rd-FREE. N. River campground is 8 bucks a night, it has a restroom & flat camping spots, i think it closes at the end of this month, could be wrong though.

I think I may have to put that place on the list to check out next year.

Next, I'm by the shop Grumpy I may pick your brain more about the general area down there. From the pictures online that place is beautiful and catching a fish would just be icing on a trip like there.
