New to fishing for Striper (fly fishing)
« on: October 07, 2010, 08:45:49 PM »
How do you get started fishing for stripers in Nashville?

I have a kayak, but prefer to wade and fly fish when I can. I've gotten into a few accidental striper runs on the Stones, but nothing consistent. I've thought about fishing some of the other dams, but I hear that you have to be prepared for someone to try to fight you for your spot.

I'm willing to put in the work to find spots, but I'm not really sure where to begin, aside from dams when it rains.  Find the bait, find the fish, but where is the bait if you don't have a fast bass boat (or anything other than a paddle)?!

Striper on the fly in a lake is tough enough but throw a yak in the mix and your stacking odds against you. All I can say is fish the spring areas in the spring. Cooks, Seven point, old hickory cove, hobson bridge, etc.
