I am sure the rainbows and maybe even the stocker browns that may be going in are probably just from the truck. But the initial stocking of browns both stocker and fingerling they did from a boat to ensure dispersal and a better chance to aviod being eaten. It has been a few years but I remember watching them do it.

They say all the Lake Trout are gone up there and maybe so but those fish don't mind deep water. But no one could ever really figure out if how to catch them regulary. I just wonder if there aren't some hawgs roaming around those depths.

I doubt an obscure stream will do it.  Extremely few of the freestone streams ...
Who said anything about freestone stream ;)
I am thinking more along the lines of pond escape to a fertile stream that has a refuge spring, very non-traditional trout water.

I guess anything is possible if you stretch the odds long enough.  That seems wildly improbable though.  You'd have to have a trout with the genetics to become a record, AND that trout would have to be in a pond, AND the pond would have to be near a fertile stream, AND the stream would have to have a spring that ran cold enough to keep the water under 70 degrees year round, AND the spring would have to be in a pool big enough and deep enough to house a predatory fish in the neighborhood of 30 pounds, AND someone would have to find that fish there and catch it.

I might run into Britney Spears on my lunch hour and she might invite me back to her hotel for some alone time, but it's probably not a likely thing to bet on.  :)

With the SoHo's population of browns, large forage base, and track record of producing big brown trout, I'd say it's got to be the odds-on favorite.

Make it Lindsay Lohan and your odds just got better.... :D

Of course you'd have to wait until she's out of jail.

bd,
You might be right.  However, close to dozen times I have caught flushed out rainbows from private ponds while smallie fishing in the late winter/early spring. This has been on at least 5 different streams.  The kicker is the thermal refuge.  However a "trout" pond is usually spring fed, so there stands a good chance of other springs being in the area.

Also I don't buy into the genetics being needed.  Almost any brown trout can get to 30 lbs, if they have the food and habitat resources (and lack of competition and lack of fishing pressure), IMO.

IMO too much pressure on streams like SF Holston, just a matter of time before it gets spotted.  Once spotted it will get targeted heavily and eventually die (even from catch and release) before reaching state record proportions.

PS Xtine Aguillare is back on the market 8)

What many do not realize about SOHO is the record fish are not river dwellers...they're Boone Reservoir fish that have migrated. The bass and striper guys are catching more and more each season, even without stocking.
Take a look at a few incidental browns on the striper photo page...bottom row:

btw-- also check out his New R musky and smallie catches.  I believe I need to book some trips wi him some day.
