Dave Whitlock's Bass flies Videos
« on: January 29, 2007, 08:37:46 AM »
Picked up a Dave Whitlock two video series on tying Bass flies for $10 (VHS). I watched it with my youngest daughter and we both really enjoyed it, although I think I got more from it then she did. Dave covered Deer hair stacking and spinning and several other neat tricks and techniques. He also shows you how to make your own Rabbit zonkers and he went over some basic Deer Hair tying techniques and information. One thing I notice is he uses lots of chemicals! Flexament in various viscosities, Zap a Gap, Zap a Gap accelerant, etc. It’s no wonder his hair is so white. ;D
His diving frog is one of my favorite Deer hair flies covered in this video. I don’t have the right colors to tie a frog yet but I might try a Sculpin version of it tonight.

In all it was a very educational video and I thought it was done very well. I particularly liked the underwater footage of some of the flies he covers in the video. Dave is a legendary fly tier and fisherman and I’ll be watching this one over and over until I can mimic that frog of his perfectly.
Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.
