New board for the Musty angler.

I mean Muskie angler. Lets put some fish on the board this year folks...
Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

Hell Yes!
I'm game.  Now we just have to find some muskies to volunteer.  I have about 10 big  holes around the house that I have spotted fish, or heard about them....now I just have to land one of these darn critters.

Here's a wintering hole in the New River that I can't wait to try in December!

Next I think I'm going to try videotaping some of the follows whenever I'm not fishing solo.

Maybe if I catch one accidentally when I'm fishing for something else!

Fuck those fish!  They make me work too hard with absolutely no payoff whatsoever!  When you're in the right spot, with the right lure, on the perfect day, the fish is supposed to bite!!!  >:(

Musky fishing is a great distraction from the absurd business BS that I endure.  I find fishing for them fast and furious by comparison.

I don't expect the location of a any 'honey holes' but where is a good place to start.  What lakes or rivers within an hour's drive of Nashville would you suggest a beginner muskie fisherman start.

I don't think you can get to muskie within an hour of Nashville.  You can get to Rock Island in two.

The Green and Barren rivers are just a short (slightly > 1hr) drive due North into KY; both have very good muskie populations. Even smaller tributary streams to these can have surprisingly large fish in their lower reaches, and do not generally get heavy fishing pressure.

In Tennessee, many of the streams on the Cumberland Plateau have good populations; Melton Hill Reservoir over near Oak Ridge (~2.5-3hr from Nashville) is the centerpiece of TWRA's muskie program and receives the bulk of stocking efforts. It's a very riverine-like reservoir, and fishes well during the late fall, winter, and early spring.

When I was at WKU, many times I wanted to get up there and fish Barren. Most of the time we went to Nolin for rappelling but never fished.

If you stop in the Gander Mtn off of exit 22 I believe, you can see some nice muskie from both Green and Barron posted on the boards.

Was out yesterday afternoon for a couple of hours. Fish were very active, but leaves are making it very difficult to fish effectively, and the main pulse of leaves hasn't even dropped yet. Unless we get a big storm to flush stuff downstream the next couple weeks are going to be a pain in the tail.

This makes me sad. I had loaded up my boat and was ready to go today but Jarrod's Ford crapped out and we had to work on it. We'll get em soon.

Man, why did we have to blame the Ford  :( I need to buy a new truck but money is tight.
I just don't care!
