Musky popper

Here is my 2nd attempt at a Musky fly. This is my Musky popper.

The whole batch for a swap I'm doing.


For size, that is a size 14 para-adams, one of my best trout flies. Pretty funny to see them next to each other. These guys come in at just under 8". They push a lot of water and give off a loud pop. I tested the first one at a small park pond and people looked at me like I was nuts ... maybe they were right, most die hard anglers are a bit off...

Are those champagne corks for the heads??  If so, it must be fun getting your tying materials....not fun going musky fishing with a headache.

Yes those are champagne corks.  My wife and I had two cases left over from our wedding last year.  Every now and then we just pull one out and drink a bottle.  We are down to about 5 bottles.  I have kept every cork to use for tying.  I used a few already that I cut way down on some bass poppers, but I thought it would be cool to leave them whole and make a really big popper.  So, those flies are the result.

Now, if the rivers would drop...
