Just wanted to share my experience.
Bought a Seagate goflex network drive to back up my imac and external with all my photos. After about a month it just disappears. I struggle with support who was no help at all. Finally I get it working on my own. A few weeks go by and I get a message that the drive if full and time machine isn't working again It's supposed to overwrite the backup files on it's own.....  Well crap I rush out to buy a cheap 500 g just to back up my photos in case something really bad happens,, I need the photos to be in two safe places. Guess what you can't use a seagate portable to back up another external... WTF! Doesn't say that anywhere on the package. Support tells me I need to take it back to where I bought it. Yea right. like they'll take back an open hard drive.. So, here I sit with 2 external drives worth $250 that are as worthless as tits on a boar hog.

Headed to mac store to get a Time capsule backup drive. Who wants to bet it's plug and play and works for a year trouble free??? Any takers??

I haven't experienced that with Seagate but it is not good to hear.

If you can find it, anything with Hitachi drives will rock as they transfer their datacenter technology into the home market.

Well it's a network drive so it isn't the HD itself but its the built in trash program that controls it. You can't access the drive directly and modify anything. Once it mounts to the Mac it's an unsolved mystery how to even get rid of the damn thing from finder. It's trash and the reviews are showing it to be just that. I fell for it when it first came out. Shoulda known better.

Now the fact that the ultra portable software only allows you to back up system files is yet another bundle of shiz. I should be able to automatically back up anything I want including external drives. Guess if they let you do that they couldn't sell you the POS network HD.

Bottom line I'll be buying Apples Time capsule (that will with a few mouse clicks back up the imac, macbook, G4, iphone, ipad, itouch, aaannd externals drives,) and be done with all the BS. Once again Apple proves that is doesn't have to be all that hard...
