Here's a fly that I've had a lot of success with and apparently, Yoda has too.  I was traveling in MN and stopped in a fly shop.  The guy and I started talking about smallies and he told me about a fly that was working for him in that area.  He even sat down and showed me how to tie it so naturally, I picked up one and the materials I needed to attempt to recreate it when I got home.  I changed the colors a bit from his version.  

I know my deer hair tying needs a great deal of work but you get the general idea.

Great pattern. Can you break the recipe down?

I use a 4XL streamer hook in a size 4
tie in the rabbit strip above the hook point
wrap a marabou plume ( color to match the rabbbit strip)
wrap a 2nd marabou plume to match the deer hair color
wrap a mallard flank
I put in a few strands of Krystal flash down each side
then take about 5 strips of red flashabou double it up and tie it in on top of the fly so it extends past the rabbit
spin your deer hair head

I've tinkered with all sorts of colors.  An olive head works well but I'm partial to the yellow

As most of you know, i have been slaying the fish with this one in three states, so in honor of Rusty, and the Crimson Tide i have re-named this fly.
"Rustys Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer"!!!!!!  Rolllllll TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!
