Deformed or new Elk River Species ?

Wife caught it last Thursday where Mulberry Creek meets the Elk.

Very interesting, looks like the upper lip of a rock bass, and the rest smallmouth, but of course I know it's not. I wonder if it was an old injury, genetic defect, or something else.

Probably just genetic deformation.
