Walking through HL today and thought of you Muskie Junkies while in the Christmas Decor section. 
They've got red, silver, and gold packs of holographic icicles.  Also a multi color pack with different colors on either side...blue/green, gold/purple & red.
At 18 inches in length they'd be plenty long for the Gi-Normous flies you fellas tie.
The width is fairly narrow, so it looks like they would have decent movement (not like some of the wider, stiff kind).
Not sure if it's as durable as Flashabou, but at $1.99 a pack...plus 50% off that price (currently on sale), seems like a good deal.
Really like the holographic look on most flies.  Happy tieing!

I've had mixed success with decorative icicles; what I tried tarnished almost immediately after getting wet, even in freshwater. I don't know whether Flashabou has an extra layer of film over the foil or not, but it really pissed me off to have to cut apart a couple days worth of tying effort to salvage $2 hooks because I tried to scrimp on mylar.

Probably a good idea to test it out.
I've used them for the bodies of small flies or ribbing on others without much difficulty.  If anyone tests it out on the larger flies, I'd be interested to know how it works out.

Thanks for the reminder Fred.....my wife bought me tons of it last year, and its worked out great for me in a few patterns already.....in fact the fuschia/pink flash was in the fly that caught my last fish...so I'm about to restock. It doesn't make one feel macho shopping at HobbyLobby looking for sparkly glitter decor.

They have some nice rabbit pelts too for Zonkers.

How do you cut the pelts into strips (and stay uniform)?  I've thought about trying this out because I go through a lot of rabbit strips with all the streamers I tie, but not sure if its worth my time/effort...

Take a Sharp razor blade....all American made blades are the sharpest.  Cut long strips leather side in the direction of the "grain" the guard hairs lay.  You can take a ruler and mark your cutting lines.

If you cut your strips airways....lateral to the grain...you get a cross-cut strip, that can be palmered as gills or a collar that makes a pulse in the water like on a tarpon toad fly.

Personna blades are very sharp...

When cutting the pelt, be careful to cut as little hair as possible; I place two books side-by-side with a 1/4" or so gap between them that I line up my cut line with - that way, there is very little pressure on the hair-side when I'm cutting.  When cutting with pelt lying on hard surface, I've always had more hair loss.
