Actually my understanding is that it has been pretty dang hot there lately Yoda....not running a little dis-information campaign are we???

nah, i haven't fished the lake in forever, i was actually more commenting on the fact that no one has posted on it in almost two years.

It's been fishing well for guide Rick Mcferrin (sp) judging from his reports. He's caught some impressive Smallies from there.

I knew what you meant Yoda...just yanking your chain because I could...and I would LOVE to go....however work has had me on the road almost non-stop lately. In fact I'm in Monterrey Mexico this week....gotta make hay while the sun shines....speaking of which  the weather is really nice here right now. Sunny with high temps basically about 80 and a light breeze every day.   

That's ok...next week is back to IA and their lovely late winter weather, oh joy!  ;)

Seems like in another few weeks the goldeye/mooneye ought to start spawning on the big rivers, particularly if the water's a bit high; if you haven't tried it they congregate around flooded brush and will tear up small flashy streamers...

The only caveat is that Rick can catch bass out of a dried up mud puddle.  I don't bass fish much, especially on lakes, but he is a machine.  You can't assume that everyone's catching fish just because he's on them.  :)

Although I was just messing around with Yoda above, in all seriousness I did get a report from a reliable source just a little while back that the silver sided fish were "on" there with double digit numbers of fish being caught daily.....

With the sheer numbers of stripers and hybrids that Tim's Ford has, it would probably be a really good lake for striper fishing with a flyrod.  I just wish it was a little closer.
