Crocs are for the pool
« on: May 25, 2012, 10:43:01 AM »
Drove up for an overnight stay with the family playing and swimming at the resort. I just had to sneak away for a few hours Wed evening to the local river. After trying to bushwhack my way to the river in crocs and swimming trunks, I was bleeding and frustrated. So close to the river but couldn't get there from here. After finding my way to the other side, the river was rolling high and stained from the rain. The lightning and storms didn't help either. Oh well, I'm out of here but I learned a few things.

Thurs I just had to try it again. Water had cleared up a lot and the flow was more wader friendly.

After finally getting dialed in on what they were taking (thanks to GT) I was able to hook into a few nice smallies and countless other fish.

I love the smallie fishing in E. TN and especially their colors.

Many thanks to GT for dialing me in on the local flavor. Maybe we can get together soon.

Nice looking Smallies!  And on top.  I haven't thrown too much topwater this year.  Looks like it time to break out the poppers.

It took me a while to tie on that popper, but once I did, I never took it off. Several smallies, rock bass, and panfish all took it off the top. Better be quick though, they can hit it and spit it very fast!
