No Musky August trip--New River
« on: August 13, 2012, 10:40:55 PM »
Fished with John this past weekend.  Weather was perfect, flows were good.  Camping was good.

Floated several miles of new water.  Found some great looking stretches worth revisiting when the bite is on.

Two hooked  and lost muskies for the 2 days.  Mid day, Sunday: Changed tactics, and caught some puppy smallies while shoal hopping.   All in all had a nice getaway.

Two boats for the different water:

Watched this guy land a nice smallie wading in "pit" level shoals:

Might get to sneak back mid or late September, once the weather cools and the fish get more fiesty.

Glad y'all had a good trip, even without muskies in the boat. Weird being August and having ~2K cfs!

Nice TR and sounds like a good time even without the Musky bite.
